visual artist, painter

Patrícia Koyšová (*1985, Nové Zámky) lives and works in Bratislava. She is a graduate of Ivan Csudai's studio at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava and has long been an established artist on the Slovak art scene. In 2011, she was a finalist for the Strabag Art Award CEE and received the Rector's Award for her master's thesis. In her work, she constantly pushes the boundaries of the painting medium—experimenting, innovating, and searching for new ways to grasp the picture as a space for an intense visual and intellectual experience. Through abstract compositions, she creates imaginative situations in which she records unique moments using expressive and energetically charged gestures. Her works act as records of movement, swirling, and flow—whether they evoke natural elements, microorganisms, landscapes, celestial bodies, or imaginary calligraphy, they always open up a space for interpretation. Koyšová works primarily with acrylic and ink, with technological experimentation forming a crucial part of her artistic method. She paints "with air"—using the pressure of an air compressor, blow guns, airbrush, as well as unconventional tools such as squeegees or mops. Through these techniques, she creates the illusion of movement, depth, and material fiction, which transforms into a living visual organism within the paintings.
