Art creates a deep connection between the artist and the viewer. And this connection is healing for both. Rick Rubin
Art is like a bridge. A bridge that can take us beyond the horizons of our current understanding. It broadens our horizons and often takes us out of our comfort zone by encouraging new ways of seeing – whether looking at familiar subjects or introducing us to entirely new ones. It opens up conversations, triggers emotions, and shapes new, nuanced experiences. Art inspires, heals, and connects – thoughts, perspectives, people.
Office spaces are living organisms; they evolve as organizations evolve – in both quantity and quality – and they shape the quality of being within an organization. By the way, did you know that we spend an unbelievable 39 years of our lives in the office on average? The overall experience of spending time in a work environment is therefore definitely a topic worth addressing. Our partner, office interior design experts Capexus, knows all about this.
Art is precisely the element of interior design that can support creativity, pull people out of established patterns of routine thinking, spark discussions, and thus contribute to better experiences, relationships, and ultimately, better work results.
The intention behind the "ART WORKS" (August 24 – October 12, 2023) exhibition, organized by Artist's Hero in collaboration with Capexus, was to inspire the general public and, in particular, the corporate world with the power of art in a modern work environment.
The curatorial selection was prepared by our external art curator Anna Pulkertová. It was our honor to present 25 works of art by established young artists such as Dana Bartoníčková, Anna Ruth, Pavlína Kvita, Monika Žáková, Petr Hajdyla, and Adam Vačkař.
The impact of visual art, and the overall aesthetic experience of any art on a person, is difficult to quantify because it is a highly subjective experience. Nevertheless, we attempted to communicate the impact of art on people through quantitative and qualitative research across the entire CAPEXUS team.
How do colleagues at CAPEXUS perceive the impact of surrounding themselves with art after nearly two months of the exhibition?
Aesthetic office experience: 83% of respondents feel that art underscores the uniqueness of the offices and contributes to a deeper aesthetic experience.
Mental well-being: 55% of respondents state that art makes them feel more uplifted and consider the work environment enriched with works of art to be more inspiring.
Meaningful human interactions: 68% of respondents paused to reflect on works of art together with colleagues, partners, or clients, and these moments contributed to their interaction or created a positive atmosphere.
Social outreach: 32% of respondents expressed that the presence of the exhibited art prompted them to consider acquiring their own artwork or following the contemporary art scene more closely.
"Experiencing art is something that takes you out of your routine." Šárka Šachová
In today's organizations, I perceive basically two approaches, both of which are good to keep in balance. The first is based on data, numbers, and measurable indicators. The second is based on emotions, intuition, and deep relationships. Exposing oneself to the influence of art seems to open both the mind and the heart. You don't always need to understand it; it's enough that it provokes us to look again and differently. Apolena Weissová
It is fascinating how differently each person can interpret a given piece. Sometimes to the point where it completely shatters your notion of how others see the exact same thing. It's a great way to learn to look at the world through the eyes of others and develop a capacity for tolerance toward different opinions.
