Where the physical space ends - the real one begins

Pop-up exhibition (Apr 17 – May 29, 2026), grand opening with a vernissage on Apr 16, 2026, presents nearly two dozen carefully selected works of art by external curator Anna Pulkertová, introducing us more closely to the work of domestic progressive artists of the younger and middle generations, such as Kateřina Šťastná, Karolína Rossí, Tereza Štětinová, David Krňanský, and unconductive trash.

Anna Pulkertová: Curator's Statement

We live in a space that influences us, and we influence it. The things that surround us appeal to us on a subconscious level. And we pour pieces of our soul into things. That is precisely where their value lies.

Space. Both exterior and interior. The outer space influencing the one hidden deep within us. That hidden space which exerts such a powerful influence on the experience of our being in the world. Set out with us to discover the things hidden behind the space visible to our eyes. And immerse yourself with us in the world of art, which can reveal and name the invisible. Venture with us beyond the physical space known hitherto.

Kateřina Šťastná

With Kateřina Šťastná, we can experience a state where our body communicates with its surroundings through breath, reconnecting with its deep essence in sleep or in contact with another person. Her polyamorphic figure in the form of a sculpture or embroidery stems from the realization that with every breath we let a tiny part of the surrounding environment into our bodies. In a way, an intimate communication thus develops between our body and space. The human body thus determines the shape of breath, just as breath shapes and deforms the form of the human body. And it is precisely this relationship that Kateřina Šťastná explores. She discovers the interdependence of the material and immaterial aspects of breath and ambient air, where human presence plays a key role.

unconductive trash

The art duo unconductive trash once again demonstrates what close collaboration between two distinct personalities means—how, in such moments, individuality transforms into the far more valuable ability to create together and complement one another. They show how two people can use (not only) a sewing machine to help foster an endless circle of safety and trust. How they can create works that invite viewers to get involved as well—with their own imagination, desire to discover and explore, and the courage to contribute to a shared creation.

Tereza Štětinová

Moments suspended in one of the most durable materials. Tereza Štětinová knows how to capture the transience of a given moment—such as a wave crashing over its edge—in marble. Or how a curved female torso can evoke that very wave. She studied photography, but very quickly moved from it to the haptic exploration of various materials. To the physical capture of fleeting moments that we might not normally perceive, yet in their physical state, they offer a space to pause, reflect, and delve into the depth of their non-physical essence.

David Krňanský

In his paintings, David Krňanský explores what constitutes the line, structure, color, and shape that affect us when we look at them, when we experience them. He discovers the magic of the color spectrum and the fading of color breadth within a black-and-white foundational division. All of this takes place in dialogue with geometric abstraction and the principles of constructivism. He allows a combination of structure, instinct, and color to work upon our sight—provided we let it. Through individual brushstrokes, we can gradually uncover the secret of the impact that colors and shapes have on us, and discover the spectrum of what we see as well as what remains hidden behind the physical space.

Karolína Rossí

And through the objects of Karolína Rossí, we can discover how things communicate with us and we with them. How sound, as well as color, sets our cells vibrating, and how we thus establish a dialogue with our surroundings on an unconscious level. Her Guardians are inspired by the book Shaman, Healer, Sage by Alberto Villoldo, which delves into the ancient healing practices of Incan shamans. At the beginning of every ceremony, they would summon sacred animals from the four cardinal directions to protect the space where the practices were performed throughout the entire healing process. The Guardians of Karolína Rossí are not animals, but beings intended to guard the space of encounter as well—with their surroundings and with oneself—and to create a sense of safety. They are meant to help ensure that a person is not afraid to step beyond physical space into the world of art.
