Commitment to ecological transformation and social responsibility

Thanks to the Artist's Hero platform, Veolia Energie ČR is bringing contemporary art closer to its colleagues with the aim of creating a working environment that inspires new themes and perspectives on the world, cultivates aesthetic sensibilities, and enhances mental well-being. Through the art rental program, Veolia simultaneously helps artists reach a broader domestic audience, communicate their perspective on important shared themes, and financially support the local art scene.

Bára Alex Kašparová: Curatorial Selection

A pop-up exhibition installed in Ostrava's offices, curated by Bára Alex Kašparová, presents works by artists who explore the relationships between nature and humanity, issues of biodiversity, ecology, recycling, and environmental protection. Patrik Kriššák, Lenka Glisníková, Markéta Hermanová, and Tomáš Honz. The curated selection of works by this quartet of artists subtly expresses that nature is truly seen by Veolia, communicating its commitment to environmental and social responsibility, as well as a vision of a future where human activity is in harmony with nature.

Climate change, soil erosion, loss of biodiversity, overexploitation of water resources, deforestation, and landscape pollution. These are just a few of the major issues affecting the contemporary landscape that surrounds us. The artist has always been perceived as someone more sensitive to everything happening around them, capable of conveying the often unseen, and gifted with the ability to communicate such messages through a universally understandable language.

It is no different with the artists we present as messengers delivering testimonies about the contemporary landscape—critically, yet with fascination and poetics. Through a universal visual language, all four artists open up pressing social themes, highlighting not only the dystopian visage and fear of the near future, but also presenting the beauty of wild nature that often remains hidden from many eyes—not least because experiencing it in person is often very demanding and uncomfortable.

Artists

All four artists represent distinct creative approaches, featuring updated traditional and technically precise painting by Tomáš Honz, or color-modified and painterly refined landscapes presented by Markéta Hermanová. Patrik Kriššák brings a fresh perspective on landscape through his own signature technique, while Lenka Glisníková portrays these societal themes through spatial objects based on extensive layering, recycling, and other technical processes.

Through these works, not only the diversity of approaches among the young generation of academic creators is presented, but above all the quality of their work, which aims to offer the opportunity to experience this aspect through living with them, thereby creating a standard from which the personal taste of every art lover can be refined.
