About the Project

In March 2024, thanks to our partner Capexus, we were approached by Hoffmann-Žižák with an interest in a piece of art – a hanging painting for their new vehicle showroom in Zápy. In addition to the construction of new offices designed by Capexus, the company was also undergoing a rebranding process at the time, resulting in a brand that emphasizes values such as reliability and innovation, as well as playfulness and boldness.

It was precisely the owner's desire to communicate these qualities in an unconventional way, combined with his personal passion for street art, that led us to collaborate with David Strauzz – an experimental street artist working across a wide range of media.

Artwork "Leben Ohne"

The brief was clear: a monumental piece that captivates with its scale while bringing the underground spirit of German metropolitan streets into the showroom. The artwork thus references Germany, the birthplace of the Mercedes-Benz brand.

David therefore chose a collage technique using posters that he personally tore down in the streets of Berlin, a city renowned for its exceptional street art scene. He then sensitively layered them to achieve the final effect of a "carelessly" stickered wall—authentic urban street art.

The element of chance, determined by the availability of posters at a given time and place, combined with the artist's creative process, gave rise to the piece entitled "Leben Ohne". Anyone can view it starting in March 2025 at the Mercedes-Benz dealership showroom Hoffmann-Žižák in Zápy. Or you might catch a glimpse of it whenever you come in to purchase a new car :)

David Strauzz

David Strauzz is one of the most prominent figures on the Czech street-art scene. He was born in Canada, where his parents emigrated in the early 1970s. He studied at Beal Art College (London, Ontario) and later at OCAD University in Toronto. In 2012, he moved to the USA, where he participated in several exhibitions in Boston and New York. As a citizen of the Czech Republic, he wanted to return and explore his roots, which led him to settle in Prague in 2015.

In his studio work, he employs techniques of collage, décollage, assemblage, and the combination of various materials and found objects – bringing them into new contexts. He finds inspiration in urban culture, the streets, and the people who inhabit these places. Human life and struggles are also reflected in the large-scale portraits that David Strauzz creates on streets across the Czech Republic and abroad. He has collaborated with brands such as Redbull, Nike, Footshop, and IKEA. And now, Mercedes-Benz Hoffmann-Žižák as well.
